Poole Park Dorset Attraction Poole Park is one of only two Victorian Parks in the Borough of Poole and the only one containing buildings. It is of regional recreational significance to South East Dorset.

It is located close to Poole town centre, the park comprises of 109.5 acres of which 60 acres are water.

Poole Park - Past & Present

In 1885 Sir Ivor Bertie Guest (Lord Wimborne of Canford Magna) gave some land to Poole Corporation to use as a “People’s Park”. In 1890 the park was opened by His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales. It cost £7,630 to create.

Five ornamental gateways, roads and footpaths surround a large saltwater lake, a smaller freshwater lake and a duck pond (which together total 50% of the park), as well as another 50 acres of grassland, shrubs, flower beds and trees.
