Shell Bay is a beautiful sandy beach on the edge of Poole Harbour in Dorset. It is situated opposite the Sandbanks chain ferry and adjoins Studland beach.
The beach has fine sand and runs around both sides of the headland. The area is un-spoilt and relatively quite. There is a nearby nature trail for walking. Shell bay is great for swimming, relaxing and picnicking. A café and toilets (with disabled facilities) are nearby.
From the west
From Wareham take the A351 towards Corfe Castle, just before Corfe Castle turn left onto the B3351 towards Studland. Follow signs to Sandbanks ferry, but do not go through the ferry toll area. Park in the national trust car park or along the road.
From Poole
Follow signs to Sandbanks and park in one of the car parks near the ferry. Walk to the ferry and get on as a foot passenger (this will avoid queuing in your car, though you can take your car across if you wish).
