Sherborne

On Dorsets northern border lies the town of Sherborne. Situated on the banks of the river Yeo. The town is famous for it’s abbey dating back to Saxon times and it’s two castles.

The old castle built c. 1107-1139 and the newer Sherbourne Castle dating from the 1600’s. Both properties were once owned by Sir Walter Raleigh. Other attractions in the area include the ‘worldwide butterflies’ farm and the Sandford Orcas Manor house.
