The seaside resort of Swanage is flanked by the downs, which offer excellent views and many walking opportunities.

The small town offers an interesting 13^th Century Church and is also home to the Swanage railway (first opened in May 1885 the railway has been restored and offers steam journeys to nearby villages). One mile south of the town is the picturesque Durlston Country Park.
